The winning competition entry for the south pier of Marina di Ravenna comprises a waterfront walkway called ‘Dune’ and a restaurant. With its imposing glass and metal volume, the new bar and restaurant space represents a gateway to the sequence of public spaces along the seashore. The metal carpentry elements of this new building lend a port-like appearance along the promenade, while the metal window frames in the enclosed volumes evokes a naval quality. The walkway along the sea is paved with concrete slabs, in harmony with the Bangkirai wood seats, ramps and fittings that accompany visitors on their way along the pier made of gentle slopes and delicate waves.</p
